On my way to Linz

I'm attending a conference in Linz, Austria on Small Engine Technologies with my prof. We travelled down to KL the night before to KLIA. Our flight will take us to Munich, Germany where we will then take a train to Linz. Our flight transits in Bangkok, and here I am, with limited internet connection trying to get online and pass sometime before the next flight which is in 2hrs time. Flight from KL-Bangkok was just 1hr 40mins rather short. Served us breakfast, omellette, sausage, croissant and coffee.

Looking out from inside, lots of transfer buses used to transfer passengers from the plane to the arrival hall.

Krabi Day 2

We chose a more relaxing tour for the 2nd day. A van came to pick us up from the hotel at about 830am. It started of with a visit to the Tiger Cave. It's really tough to recognize the direction. With all the thai writings and signboards everywhere. I can only roughly guess where we were but not the actual location or address. Upon arrival, I didn't really notice the tigers though. They had a huge pagoda like, with a goddess of mercy in it.

A shot in front of the pagoda

Besides that, they also have 2 routes, a short and simple one to some caves and a big tree.
It didn't specify if this is the tree, it looks big so we assumed it is.
The other was a 1000+ steps uphill climb to the top of the hill with a temple up there. We chose the first, wanted to try the second on but too bad we were insufficient time and only manage to climb about half way up. I think scenary up there would be nice. We met some Malaysians there, pretty cool, also a friendly Australian couple.

The Malaysian guy we met who was travelling with his family

The Aussie couple whom had the same tour as we do, so we keep seeing them all along

Then next stop was a hot spring. It was a rather small natural hot spring as it could hardly fit more than 10 person i guess, the water was about 40C. We just dipped ourselves for 15 to 30 min. Later we had lunch which was provided by the tour at a little restaurant at the entrance of the hot spring park. Some delicious local thai food was what we've been looking for. An unlimited refill of dishes and rice to keep us filled up.

After lunch, we went to our next destination, emerald pool. From its name, we could guessed that the pool has emerald colour like water in it. The emerald colour was due to some minerals in the water. We did swam in the pool for a little while but the clouds were getting near and soon came the rain. We dried ourselves up and headed back to the van. However, rain came pouring and got us wet. As we thought the tour was over, the guide told us that we still have another elephant trekking to go. But, we were a little wet and cold, and a little too tired. So we gave it up and headed back to the hotel for a nice hot bath and changing into dry clothes instead.

Later that night, we walked down the street which is about 1km away. There are lots of shops, restaurants, bars, crowds, mostly for tourist though. We just picked a random restaurant for dinner.
Some food we had that night, padthai, goreng pisang with ice cream, stir fried chicken with cashew nuts

End of day 2.

Krabi Day 1

Then came 5days Krabi trip with Agnes and another couple, WC&EP. Just a free and easy trip to relax and rewind. On the day we reached it was raining and so we stayed in the hotel which we booked earlier, Aree Tara. One of the best hotels I've ever stayed. *Thumbs Up* Service was good, room was nice, clean, and beautifully decorated, breakfast was good though simple.
The room, nicely decorated
The balcony The Pool
The nice tropical design Aree Tara
Room 402
Ham, Sausages, Onion Rings, Noodles, Rice, Pan Cake French Toast, Salad, Omelet, Mix Fruit Yogurt was among the several main dishes for breakfast

Later that night we went out for dinner at some local restaurant. The lady boss was very friendly and recommended us some good food that they had. Ambient was lovely, dimly lighted, decent food, pricing was average.
Then we went to look for some local tour for the following days. We decided to take 2 full day trips.

Finally after 6 months..

August ending soon. It's been half a year since I last post anything on this blog. Been quite busy lately with everything. Work, work and work. Had some breaks in between. Went up genting for a weekend with Agnes to celebrate my birthday. Enjoyable and relaxing weekend.
Me & Agnes in Genting (May 2010)
Happy birthday to myself :)

Then, had some competitions going on continuously during june till july. It started of with perodua ecochallenge , followed by shell ecomarathon then by formula kart. Perodua ecochallenge was pretty much redoing what we did last year with a little improvements. Being team lead was much easier as there're juniors to work on the details while I oversee their work. But still nearing the competition there were still lots of last min work which I had to take care off myself. We stayed days and nights in school. Testing around campus was done till dawn. Several nights before the competition was almost sleepless. Finally winning the competition was definitely rewarding.

Then came Shell Ecomarathon. Was a great experience as it was totally creating a brand new vehicle and lots of trial and error to be done. Similarly, nearing the competition, it was also sleepless nights. Solving each and every problem that rose up. Even during competition days, last minute work and fixing and solving. Still we manage to meet teams from other universities and even countries. Meet some friends, sharing knowledge, ideas, and exchanging opinion. Truly a great experience. Some even had great techniques and technologies that was a huge leap away and worth learning. However, we, like most teams were having trouble getting up the hilly Sepang circuit. We did all we could to get up as much as possible over the hill but still. We were very close but still not good enough. More preparation will be needed for next year.

Formula kart was a totally different competition compared to the two previous. Both perodua ecochallenge and shell ecomarathon were focus on fuel economy and efficiency. In shell ecomarathon, the best teams could get up to about 2000km/L. Surprising ain't it? Almost unbelievable but it's true. However not practical as a vehicle on the road. Formula kart is all about endurance. How capable is your vehicle to endure the 30lap race and also speed, being the first to complete the race. We got it running and was working all night long to push the car to go as fast and possible. However things just broke down during the last minutes, we work our way through to fix everything up. We got it running on the race day, but luck just wasn't with us. We were flagged at the starting line, but our car just gave way on the 2nd lap. We left with disappointment.

That was the competitions that kept me busy all these while, besides my own project. Then came Amy's wedding, twin sis of Agnes. Wish them happiness forever.

Then I went down to Sg for CY's convocation. Just a weekend trip, down south. Congrats to him.

Recently I just came back from a 5 days holiday in Krabi. To be continued on the next post... :)

A Hot Tiger CNY!

It's way pass CNY, and the weather is still scorching hot. Be it in Melaka, Penang, Parit Buntar, or Ipoh. It's all HOT HOT HOT.. Back in campus for a while, the weather here is totally real hot. The daily cold shower has now turned into a hot one. Y would anyone need a water heater anymore? Wish I could fix an air cond here. Sleeping on the mattress is like sleeping on a hot pan which got you sweating the whole night. When u tried sleeping on the floor which used to be cold is now just as hot. It's like staying in an oven. Free sauna everyday.
CNY this year wasn't really much to anticipate. Since my 2 sis is not home, it's only left with me, youngest sis, dad and grandma.

Holidays rather short for those working ones, so I didn't really get to visit much. Besides I went up to Ipoh on the 3rd and 4th day, which also skipped the visiting day with fellow friends. First 2 days at home as usual. A little relative visiting, and of course on the first day itself was Valentine's day.

Hanged out, ate dinner, went shopping with the special one. Pretty much it. Second day went shopping, watch movie, just trying to escape the heat by hiding in shopping complex. Hehe. Went gathered with some friends later that night at CC's house warming party.

When too much of booze some goes down

3rd, 4th and 5th was in Ipoh with Agnes and her parents to visit her grandparents and relatives there.

Later that week, Jess, Lina, LT and YY came down for a short trip. We went over to Hanlyn's place for visiting before heading to town. Jonker, Layer Cake, The Jetty, Satay Celup was among the few not to be missed.

They stayed over for a night and after dimsum for breakfast they headed to Klang. On the following monday, 220210 was Amy's registration day. My best wishes to them. =) I headed back campus that night.

Back here, it started off with some reluctance and laziness to get things started. No choice, I'll really need to get things moving, fast. It's gonna be a busy month.

Last Christmas (Part1)

Once again I'm back logging again. I just wanna get over this and start blogging for the brand new year. So last christmas was my first christmas in Singapore with Agnes. We had quite a number of ppl there in Singapore so it was sort of like a little Christmas gathering there. (Kiat, Teodore, CC, Eeling, Shaun, Cyrus, Jacelyn+1 ). Thx to kiat we had accomodation and teodore too. We were crashing at both their places. We were there the day b4 Christmas eve. Met up with Teodore on our arrival in Sg and our bus stopped us around Bugis area so we went for steamboat over there. I wasn't the best but was just okay to me. Filling up our empty tummy while chit chatting and experiencing the city life ppl in Sg, rather interesting. Things that you will nvr get in places like PB for there next at least 10yrs. LoL. Bugis seems like a place for steamboat. We could see a stretch of shops all serving steamboat and we just went to a random one. We finished up at almost 11pm and we know it's time to head back before it's too late. Still, we were this close. We head towards NTU, got off the MRT, and watch the last bus went by. Ended up walking back to NTU which wasn't that far though and helped out with the digestion of food.

Our first stop in Bugis.

One of the road in Bugis with lots of food.

Crashed in Teodore's place for the first night.

Woke up a little late, had breakfast in the canteen and went over to the School of Arts, Design and Multimedia or just ADM in short. A popular place in NTU to hang out and a must to visit, with it's unique building design.

In the ADM building with the creative 3d illustration. It was almost perfect.

It was drizzling in the morning though, luckily we had umbrella. So we were suppose to gather for dinner on the Christmas Eve and have a little countdown to Christmas. So from NTU, we headed to city center. We went to catch AVATAR 3D in Iluma, a new and fairly interesting shopping complex. Btw Avatar 3D was cool. I've watched the 2D version and the 3D version just made it so real. Though a little expensive but i think worth the dollar. After the movie we met up with Kiat down the road in a cafe enjoying his tea time. He sure knows how to pleasure himself. And we walked around Bugis and head to orchard to meet up with the rest for dinner.

Myself, Teodore, Kiat.

There's just so much to shop, and still it's crowded with ppl everywhere. All the restaurants were pretty crowded since it's Christmas eve. We ended up choosing a Japanese restaurant, we had to wait for like 30mins or more. We ordered a set for 6 which is inclusive of a variety of food. Shaun the special one had his own a la carte so is Cyrus who was making his way after work. Gathering was fun, food was rather okay, but a little high on the price though, catching up was great, hanging out together was just awesome. Nothing beats old time.
Here comes the food..

We still had a brownie and a strawberry parfait for desert. Quite a variety of food.

That's everybody

After our Christmas Eve dinner gathering we out to the street, Orchard Road. People mountain, people sea, the whole pathway is crowded with lots and lots and lots and lots and lots of ppl all the way. The decoration wasn't as great as I would expect, but seems that it used to be nicer and more fun. Anyway we walked along the pathway from Ion Orchard to Summerset. The exterior lighting of the Ion Orchard was great. Takashima had a christmas tree made up of ferrero rocher ( must be fake one, or else all the leaves and branches will be gone, LoL ). Squeezing our way through the human traffic, finally we cut off at sommerset. From there we went to Clarke Quay, one of the happening places at night. It used to be warehouse i think, now the whole area is filled with bars and clubs, a popular night hang out places. The whole places is also packed, as everyone is awaiting to countdown to Christmas. We found ourself a place in one of the bar, got our drinks and chilled out while waiting for the clock to strike 12am. We were provided with party packs and enjoyed ourselves chatting, drinking till Christmas. Cheers! We had Jacelyn with bf and also Teodore's friend with us. Wonderful night. We then crashed over at Kiat's place that night.
