PELTAC 2007

Professional Engineering Leadership Teamwork Awareness Camp
Date : 3rd -6th Dec 07
Location : Universiti Teknologi Malaysia

Here comes PELTAC. I was a little reluctant to join this camp at first since most of those that joined initially actually withdrew their names. Left was just me and lian. Going , not going , going , not going , and finally going. So that's it. Decision has been made and PELTAC we went.

Day 1
We took the first bus there early in the morning. Too bad we missed the ice breaking session. We throw our stuff to our respective rooms and joined the on going activities. There's some team building activities done by JCI, such as 10 person standing on a beer crate for at least 10sec. Trust me, it ain't easy but it can be done. Criss crossing hands among group members and forming back into a circle.
There was a slot on Subconcious mind by Mdm Goh Chooi Chin who is a Master Hypnotist. It's really something new and that I've never attended such talk on. Very interesting. About how to self hypnosis, how our mind works and things like that. She even did some relaxation test which was really incredible when you see the results. Too bad i failed the test. But it was really great effort of the committees to have her as a speaker all the way from UK. Good job guys!
http://www.hypnotismpower.com/
At night, we had the opening ceremony in Good Hope Hotel. Quite a nice place. Then blah blah blah... speeches, introductions, and everything else. Then FOOD!! Not very luxurious but i think it was good enough.
Oh ya, forgotten about my group. Group 4. Nice working with you guys though always got punished for being late. Zaha, Saif, Syasyi, Jennifer, Yang Mien, Tim, Peggy, Lih Fung, n Kok Hao. Not forgetting FCs Gabriel, Eileen, Chai Moy!!

Day 2
Woke up early in the morning. Timetable quite packed so need to do more things, eat fast, sleep less. Hehe. Activities, then there's talk by a lecturer, Mr Affendi. Quite a jovial, humourous guy. Pretty interesting but still i was struggling a little to keep awake cos insufficient sleep time. Interpersonal communication & EQ. After lunch was seminar on Presentation skills by Miss Kamala from the Toastmasters Club. Learn to speak, to present. body language, vocal. There's just so much to learn. Then we had our own debate and public speaking for everyone. Too bad my group ( siew bee, li shiu, pei wen & me) lost in the debate. We've tried our best. Good job everyone! As for public speaking I was scratching my head on what to talk about for 3 mins, and I ended up talking about blogging. In the evening we even had kayaking in lake er.. pond? It's not my first time but it's still fun experience. Luckily didn't turnover.

Day 3
As usual slept late and wake up early. The day started with a seminar by Mr Mahadzir Lokman. He's the MC for most events. A very nice speaker with a nice voice.

Next was followed by Mr Bellum Tan on Money Freedom, how to make your money work for you. . It's a little hard trying to follow what he's talking about firstly because i'm sleepy, secondly a bit boring. Hehe. But i think the infomations given was quite useful. After lunch we played a Cash flow games. Something like monopoly just that it's more of handling money, buying shares, funds, properties, selling, negotiating with partners in short get rich. Interesting game but it cost quite a fortune too to own a set of it.
http://www.cashflowgameasia.com/home

Then in the middle of some where one hour slot, there's a sponsor talk by Great Eastern and some representative came to talk about er.. i'm not very sure what she's trying to convey. but in the end i have a nice little diary. Period. Station game at night, looking for clues to hunt down the murderer. I'm not a good detective. Too bad.

Day 4
Last day of camp. Finally, can't wait to go home but miss the camp, the friends. However, raining. Had to do abseiling. It's my 2nd time. I find it kinda fun. Wish i could do it more. It's cool. Back into the hall and played angels and devils. Performance!! I would say a very good performance we've prepared. Good job team. I wish i could get the video. One last seminar, then closing ceremony at night. Prize and certificate giving. And lastly a marvellous performance by the committee. And slide show. Very nice one indeed. Sharing from the committees, of their hard work and efforts. Then photo sessions, wonderful supper, chit chatting , contact exchanging and hanging up till late night. Finger pointing game anyone?

Chinese All Stars Concert

DAY 2

Back home last night and on sunday afternoon I was driving up KL again. It's hot driving in the afternoon.
Objectives :
  • Fetch sista back
  • Watch concert
Chinese All Stars Concert
25 Nov 2007
Bukit Kiara Equestrian Park
4pm - 11pm
Performing Artistes:
Thor Luk • Dominique Choy • Huang Qi Shan

I wasn't as lost this time. Picked my sis up from her campus and we headed towards the Bukit Kiara Equestrian Park. Everything was just according to time. We reached there at 4pm, which was the time stated on the ticket. The weather was hot, crowded. Long we waited, we bought some food from the malay stalls outside, in case we get hungry. Finally they opened the entrance. Stinky and hot. As we entered, a BIG sign, no outside food allow. Just like it said, our food got confiscated, so sad. Should have just eat it all before going in.
The crowd was pushing and everybody was rushing in to get a good location and a good view.
But the problem is it's hot. The sun was still burning hot. And we are glad we had a place with some shades, and not too bad the view. Satisfied. Yet still we had to wait till almost 6pm.

Toilet!!
A major concern. We went to relieve and to empty all tanks as it's just about to start, and the toilet will be cleaner. If it were to be later, i had to imagine how the condition of the toilet will be.

Food!!
Another major concern as they wouldn't allow outside food. As expected, they had stalls selling food. So i went trying to get some drinks and some food. A little surprise over the price. Probably it's my first concert and have no experience and prepartion of what to expect.
Can of drink rm 3
french fries like those available in pasar malam rm 4
nasi lemak with chicken rm 5
and etc..
so for the whole night i actually spent rm 50 for drinks, french fries and nasi lemak.
=(

The concert began with a lady singer from China, followed by some local artists which i'm not familiar with ( some winners of some talent competitions i guess ), and followed by more popular artist, like zhang zhen yue, victor, michael, fish, vincy, claire, and etc and ended with zhang hui mei.

Well the feel of being in a concert is definitely fantastic. Nothing like listening to music on your mp3. The superb audio surround system, the fans, the crowd and the artists. It was a nice experience. Everybody just seems to know all the songs. I was like wondering if there's any songs that these people just doesn't know. But the answer was none. Everyone is singing along with the artists, waving, clapping, cheering and that was fun.

As the last artist started her performance, i was there getting ready to leave. It's not just me but there are people who already started to leave, for the same reason, don't want to get caught in the jam after the concert. Quite a smooth drive out of KL, and we stopped by KFC at the Sg Besi toll for food cause everyone's hungry which cost as much as i spent for food in the concert. It was really tiring. I was struggling hard to stay awake. I couldn't take it and had to stop by Seremban RnR and take a nap.

Finally reaching back bout 3am.

Exhausted..

Lazyness.. blahblahblah

One last week to go and it is time to get back to campus and get ready for the next semester.
I'm just getting lazy day by day. Probably I just don't feel like doing anything and just want to enjoy my free time.
Or maybe the lazier I am the lazier I'll be. The disease just sort of spreads epidemically. And time just flies by especially when you are
having a good time enjoying yourself. I guess that disease just stopped me from blogging.

Well then, back to what i've been doing.

2 days KL trip.

DAY 1
Very tiring definitely, cause I drove up and down for both the days. The first day was supposed to send my beloved sista back to campus for she's having her SAT test. So just being a nice brother sending her back to campus. Then went shopping after dropping her off. Hehe. I was a little lost in KL though, cause I don't really know the place very well, just making some wild guess and asking around for direction. So IKEA I went. Walking around looking through very nice showrooms, those stuffs just looks good. But when buying them and bringing them back home. It doesn't look as nice as it is suppose to be. I think everything plays apart, spacing, lighting, and placement of the object and colour matching of each items. Ended up buying a table lamp and a set of 10 finger puppets ( it wasn't mine) .

That looks comfortable

she's planning to smuggle them out

Hunger came into mind, and walking up and down finding for the suitable food to eat. Ended up in TEPANYAKI at the basement. It looked good at first but i guess it wasn't as good as it seemed to be. We went in took our seats. I was having a hard time getting into my seat, did i put on weight? A little maybe but the gap between my chair and the person behind is just | | this much. He was trying his best to squeeze himself to allow me to go in. And when he's leaving I had to squeeze myself for him to move out. A very standard menu , there's like few dishes shown on the banner in front of the stall, and those are the few things then have only. Nothing else. The food was just so-so, a bit too salty i guess.

Fuji Snow ( it tasted just like ice kacang )

And we continue our window shopping, walking and looking 99% of the time. Took tea break at the cafe, had coffee, ice cream, and soft drink. The drinks are refillable. So being a typical kiasu person, I took in at least 3 cups of coffee. It was good coffee though. And it really help keeping me awake when driving back. Worth the money. Then we hopped on over to the CURVE which is just across the street, nothing much in there. Some nice christmas decorations.

christmas's coming.. yeah

Dinner time came by just as quick. Lots of nice cafes and we stop by at HEAVEN. Cause only nice and angelic people will be there. Hehe. Quite a nice place. Food wise, good. But to me a bit costly probably i'm not use to going such places for food. For 3 person it costed about rm60. After dinner, we headed back home.

cheezzzeee

let's feast

Pangkor?

Blackout !!!

For the second time in this semester the whole campus actually blackouts. Totally. ( Probably cause somebody forgot to pay their electric bills. ) I just finished watching Fantastic 4 Silversurfer. Fine, I'm always far behind. Not long after that, *Poof* It was a total darkness. I hardly see anything. Just using my hands to feel my way around searching for my handphone. It was bout 2am i guess.

Found !! Switching on the lights. At least the function was of good use. There i was sitting down. Nothing could be done. Er.. Actually there is. To pack my stuff. I was suppose to start packing this evening, ended up watching movie and onlining, up till now. How miserable, could have done that with lights on, but now all i have is that little beam of light from my handphone. So slowly i started packing my stuff. I really don't know where to start. My stuff are getting more and more each semester. Still i just packed whatever i could in the dark.

3am .. Still no electricity. Continue packing. Throwing all my junks that is not required.

...
..
.

4am .. I'm a bit restless.. Too many stuff all over. Can't lie on my bed. Continue packing.
...
..
.

5am.. Boring. Should have just try to sleep just now. Now i'm felt so hot that i can't sleep. Go to the toilet. Then suddenly.. mysteriously the lights went back on. Yay!! Went back to my room. i'm 70% done. I'm just too lazy to continue. I'm leave it for tomorrow. And ended up here. It's almost 8am now. Hang around a while more wash my face and go for breakfast with lian. Anyway it's the last day afterall, so i guess it doesn't matter if i sleep or not.

Just can't wait to go home..

Unstressed... Back to Initial Condition

Finally after exam, took lunch and chit chated with lian and roy for quite sometime. When reached back my room, i thought i could sit down for a while. Checking my hp only i realised i'll be playing badminton at 2pm and the time then was 1.52pm. Hurriedly change into sports attire, grab my precious racket and headed for badminton.

Enjoying indeed to be able to release excess stored energy inside. The court was booked from 2 to 4. But since nobody appeared so we continued playing. Without realising, the time was almost 6pm when ppl started coming in. Totally exhausted. Couldn't believe that i actually played for almost 4 hours, almost non-stop since the number of players were just sufficient. Lost count of the number of games played 15? 20? Before leaving, a friend invited to join them for dinner in Juru.

Indeed i was glad that finally can go out to celebrate independence day. But my whole body is shattering. But considering, to go or not to go? Since it's almost the end of semester, one last gathering with coursemates, and it's after exam, why not? My desperation of going out is greater than my tiredness. So a quick bath, a short rest just to rest my feet and off we go.

Ice Ice Baby is the name. Quite a nice cafe.Looking through the kinda should i say old. Even my form 6 books doesn't look as bad. Either they've been existing for ages, and having hell lots of customers flipping on their menu, or they've just can't afford to change new ones, or watever the reason is. However all the food looks great though. I ordered a beef bolognaise baked rice and papaya milk juice. Oh, i just got curious how would papaya taste like with milk. According to some "health experts" it actually helps girls to fit better in their shirt. Hmm... Gosh, I'm a little worried. But who cares. I doubt one cup of that would make me look like any different. Or else all the girls would be rushing for it. Then we ordered a platter consists of some fried thingy, one which they actually called a Stupid Ball. Luckily i was after my exams. But why in the world would somebody name something round a stupid ball? ??? ( I missed that picture ) Then we even ordered fruits with chocolate dippings ( you can choose between choc and cheese ) . I'd love to try the cheese someday. That was just okay to me. Nothing fancy. It's just the taste of the fruit + chocolate. Wasn't too pricey i guess. It came up with about RM25 person on the average.

My Beef Baked Rice
And My Papaya Milk ( it's not too bad )

The Fruits With Choc Dipping ( they called it fruits steamboat )
The noodles looks tasty, Roy's
How romantic, sharing their drinks ( *giggling* )

Ice cream with bananas
( they have lots more nice looking ice creams )
Roy's too. He seems to be so into bananas.

Next agenda was watching movie in Pacific cause it's the cheapest price around. Too bad, Stardust started 15 mins and for the rest of the show we couldn't decide on which to watch as each has different choice. So we end up in the arcade center hanging around and back campus. That was one tiring day. I actually woke up at bout 12pm today. Just in time for lunch.

What a ReLiEvE..

Free Pizza!!!

Guess what i've found. Some survey which supposedly will send you free pizza voucher after completing their surveys. I just came across this when a friend of mine sent the link to me.
I'm not sure how far it's true. But seems that it'll take 2 weeks to send it to me. So i'm counting the days.

I guess no harm trying. If it's true then free meal. Yummy. Thinking of it makes me hungry. In the middle of the night (should be) studying. So i'm just trying to be generous and share with you guys. Hehe. This is what i'm suppose to send out. So hurry guys. Then we will go have our free pizza meal together. ^_^

I took this travel survey and got a free pizza meal voucher. It is a regional travel survey supported by Tourism Malaysia and it offers many rewards including a trip to Hong Kong Disneyland. Just click on the link below for further information.

Tip: You have to respond fast because prizes are limited and before the survey closes.

Am I An Addict?

Oh no!!! I'm beginning to think that i'm an drug addict. Are you ? I'm consuming caffeine everyday by drinking coffee.
Therefore,
drink coffee = take caffeine = taking drug = drug addict

ARGGGGHHH!!! Without realising, i'm actually drinking lots of coffee nowadays. Due to studies? Stress? Hmm.. i'm not sure. For your info I actually do drink coffee everyday. Let me see, usually in the morning, that's one for breakfast. Then during lunch " Kopi Ais! " , that's another. Dinner? Hmm not that often though. And lastly during night time another cup of sweet smelling coffee just for the sake of drinking. Hehe. I've even tried once taking in 5 cups of coffee in one day. My goodness!! I don't know what was I thinking back then.

So am I really an addict? I don't know. I don't remember my trembling with a pale face, zombie looking loitering behind the cafe just because i didn't drink coffee. Hmm.. Can I spend one day without coffee? I haven't tried so far. Why? Because there's nothing else besides coffee in my food storage in my cupboard. I've several kinds though. Nescafe ( strong or normal ) , Indocafe, Gold Eagle and even the Famous White Coffee from Ipoh.

I guess I was partially influence by my dad. He loves drinking coffee more than me. His daily consumption is definitely higher than me. Some people can't take too much of it as they would be having a hard time to fall asleep at night. But for myself, I guess either i'm immune or my sleeping ability is much stronger than the effect of the coffee. I'll still end up sleeping after my cup of coffee. Fine i'm weird!!

So i'm just a coffee addict, not an expert, but i've several coffees out there which are pretty good to me. Among them is the one from Old Town Cafe, Coffee Bean and Starbuck ( i think it's a little expensive for a cup of coffee ), there are some nice old coffeeshops around which actually serve pretty good coffee and it's cheap.

I've came across some facts about caffeine.
  • Chocolate contains caffeine. ( So chocolate lovers , you're an addict just like me. *grins* )

  • A can of Coca-Cola ,Pepsi Cola, Mountain Dew, Tea has caffeine. ( So it's even obvious you're one isn't it? )

  • Even a cup of decaffeinated coffee has caffeine. ( So people don't be fooled, it's not really caffeine free, it only has lower concentration of caffeine. )

  • Caffeine stunts a child’s growth. ( Probably that's why i'm not tall. So little kids out there, No Coffee for you!! )

  • Adding caffeine to a regular, two-tablet dose of common ingredients found pain relievers (aspirin and acetaminophen) makes them relieve headache pain about 40% better.
( Ohh , it actually helps to get high. Hehe. Just kidding! Please use presciption with reference to a medical consultant. )
Oh lastly, here's a cup of happy coffee for you. Smile and enjoy!! So anyone fancy a nice cup of coffee? Any recommendations of where serve the best coffee?

Finally!!!

Yeah!!!! Woohoooo... Finally the exam has started. Today is my first paper ( Solid Mechanics ). Another 3 more to go. I'm so happy of the fact that my exams has finally started. Ok fine fine, you must be thinking that i've been studying too much and that i'm actually out of my mind.

Nop trust me. I'm not drinking, not out of my mind, or what so ever. I've been waiting and waiting and waiting and still waiting yesterday for my first paper. I've been waiting for 4 monthes. Oops, I'm sorry, i'm not that nerd that I entered here to just waiting for exams. It's actually about 4 weeks. You may think that having such long time will enable me to do full preparation for exams. But sorry to say, I'll go crazy doing that.

So the me who once full of exam mood to study was so into it for the first week, and slowly lack a little for the second week, ended up watching movie everynite and taking breaks for the third week and lazing around moodless for the rest of the days. That's me. I just don't have the patience to study study n study study n study n still studying.

You might as well kill me with one shot
than to slowly burn the rope of the guillotine with my head below with a candle. That's torture.

I don't know why but in this exam I find that i've lost the mood as it fades off with time.
I'd prefer to have my exams during the earlier weeks, or at least spreads out evenly.

Anyway, what's over is over. I don't want to look back. Although i know there's quite a number of mistake in my paper just now but i can't be bothered anymore. Just aiming for my next paper. MANDARIN!!

So people, what do you think of early exams and late exams? Any opinion? Which would you prefer?
