Gosh.. Time passes by real fast. I still remembered those lazy feeling haunting me during CNY and i think it's still there. This clearly showed from my SO OUTDATED blog. I better start bucking up, throw those feeling in to the garbage bag and start kicking things around. Before I start regretting for all the wasted time.
Indeed there's just lots to be done, especially when the exam's just round the corner. Lots of studies needs to be done. Assignments and projects to be completed as due date are getting near. Not forgetting robocon competition during this end of month. Time is running out.
Sigh.. anyway lots events passed and just wanna post up some or few.
KL International Forest Towerthon Challenge
3rd Feb 2008
Menara KL
An eventful run indeed. I've heard about the run before but I've never joined it before. So this year my dad said he'll be joining and so I happily ask him to register for me as well. Thinking of the race was really not easy.
I did train up a little. Run few lapse around the campus every now and then. The race starts with a run of approximately one kilometer uphill before climbing 2,058 steps to reach Tower Head 3 at 288 meter above ground level.
My dad and I went up the day before and stayed over at his friend's place. I woke about 6am, got everything ready for the race. One thing that interest me in this race was the computerized system. We were given a sort of chip like which is required to be tied to our shoe lace for computerized timing system. This was my first time using such stuff. In other races the time recording were usually done manually. It's somekind detector which the sensors at the starting point and finishing point will detect when passing by it.
Just before the race it started drizzling. The rain was getting heavier but the race still needs to carry on. The race started according to each category and each category was broken up into various groups of about 200 person pergroup in order to reduce the congestion in the tower.
It was my turn to be flagged off. Off I go, taking the first km on the road to the base of the tower slowly to save some energy. That first km wasn't as easy as it seems. I don't know why. Then reaching the tower, finally the real deal begins. It was quite narrow in there. It's the emergency stairs i guess which could at most fit 2 person in width. I started off slowly but towards the 6 floor I'm beginning to wear out. Well probably due to my larger mass, hence to move upwards with a bigger mass requires more energy. I started walking but walking fast. Counting the floors and the air gets thinner with lots of people in there fighting over it. Breathing gets tougher yet still needs to go on. I took a quick stop at water stations, grabbed some water, took in some fresh air and continued my way up. Counting the floors, and counting down the number of storeys to go. I'm hearing people shouting, indicating that I'm towards the end. Pushing and using up my last boost of energy and there I am. Finishing the race. Rested a while while waiting for my dad which was at flagged of after me to complete his race.
After that, we walk around the tower, the sight up there was pretty nice. It was my first time up the tower. For once I manage to see KLCC which was at par with me. Usually I sees it from below. After the race, we were given a finishing medal and a certificate of achievement. Hehe. The official time which I took to complete the race was 24min 24sec, whereas my dad was 23min 11sec.
The race wasn't as bad as I thought it would be cause the misery only lasted less than half an hour. Nice experience indeed and hope to participate again next year.
